In this week’s video, unfortunately, one of my female budgies passed away, leaving a baby alone in the nest box. That immediately raised a difficult question: should I try moving the chick into another budgie nest, or should I take over and raise it myself? Both options come with risks, and there’s never an easy answer in situations like this.
One thing I do know is that nutrition matters. My budgies, just like all of my birds, receive a varied diet. During breeding season, a rich diet becomes even more important, not only for the parents but also for the growing chicks.
And while I spent so much time worrying about cats around the aviaries, it turns out the real rulers of this garden are my chickens. They patrol the place like kings and queens, completely confident that everything belongs to them.
But the biggest surprise of all is this little baby. A tiny bird that is now 100% dependent on me for survival. Every few hours, it needs feeding, warmth, and care. Right now, it has nobody else to rely on except me.
