Baby Budgies Keep Dying | Prevent Suddenly Death of Budgies

Baby Budgies Keep Dying is a very stressful experience for any breeder. Mother Budgie can kill their babies, and die from not feeding them.

Budgies are very sensitive animals and require constant love and attention. When they are very young they must be constantly under the care of their parents who must be very careful that their children grow into healthy adults. The problem of the death of cubs is usually because their parents are not the most careful and sensitive in their upbringing. Because they are so sensitive there are many reasons why they die at a very early age.

Why did my baby budgie suddenly die?

Most baby budgies die from malnutrition, which is too little food to eat. And we all know that food provides enough energy for their growth and development. Budgie’s parents are to blame for this malnutrition because they do not pay too much attention to their children and forget to feed them in that carelessness. Also, if you make food for them, you can accidentally poison them with certain toxins and thus, unfortunately, harm them and bring them to a lethal end.

Baby parrots are very susceptible to diseases, bacteria, and viruses because their immunity is very weak and has not yet reached a level that can defend the budgie from various pathogens. Therefore, the slightest exposure to microorganisms, unhygienic in a cage or food, can also lead to serious consequences for the health of the budgie but also death.

Also, since they are very small and need to adapt to the conditions of the external environment, very small changes in temperature can affect them and bring them into a state of shock, and later to death. That is why it is very important to establish an optimal temperature that will satisfy your budgie and that will be safe and sufficient for your budgie to perform basic life activities.

Also, chickens can die due to too short an incubation period, so they die in early embryonic development, or certain components and organs are not sufficiently developed, which of course leads to disruption of normal body functions, which of course leads to a rapid and lethal outcome.

Also, eggs can be mistakenly shaken, for example when they accidentally fall out of the nest and the like. So eggs that are so shaken can lead to serious deformities and impaired health.

If you find a dead budgie in a cage, remove it as soon as possible, especially if there are more birds in the cage, because other birds can become infected with microorganisms that are present and trying to break down the parrot’s corpse.

Mother budgie not feeding baby

Very common causes of death budgies are malnutrition and starvation. A very common reason for this is that after the chicks hatch, the mother often does not feed them, but rests, while the chickens are fed egg yolk, which will surely give them all the necessary energy.

After some time, the chickens will simply cry out for food, so their mother should feed them, of course. If the mother does not feed her baby after 24 hours, it means that you should need milk formula milk for the birds and thus help them survive without the mother’s food. Of course, this means that you have to carefully observe their growth and development after hatching.

Parents should feed small budgies every 3 to 4 hours. If the mother does not put food in the beak of her children, the parents have given up their children and simply do not want any more relationship with them.

Mother budgie attacking baby

Because budgies are very playful and active, they can irritate their parents. And if the parents are under a lot of stress during that period, they attack their babies and eventually kill them. Fortunately, this happens very rarely, but YES they do it to prevent them from being disturbed.

Parents can attack their children during mating. Once the babies are old enough to feed themselves, the mother can throw them out of the nest. She then wants to spend more time with the male and then when a baby approaches the nest she can attack her and unfortunately kill in that attack.

If you see that the mother is constantly attacking the children, take the babies out of the cage immediately, because if she continues to attack, she will surely kill them, and you can prevent that in time.

Why do budgies kill their babies?

Mothers most often kill their young to protect other children from disease. If the mother discovers that one of the budgies has an infection, she, unfortunately, kills him to protect the other children from spreading the disease. It usually kills a baby that is sick and then simply throws it out of the nest. The mother knows best if the child is sick, and it would take you a long time to understand that, and the other budgies would probably die by that time.

If parents have baby budgies for the first time, they probably won’t know what to do with them, so they will kill them because it will be the easiest thing for them. Of course, when they grow up, they will realize that they need to take care of their new offspring.
Some mothers want to have new offspring again, after recently having offspring, so they want to push the babies out of the nest to make room for new cubs and in that act they simply kill them.

If the space in which they are located and the size of the cage is very small, then the mother will kill one of her babies to provide the other babies with enough space for a normal life. Also, if the space is very small, it increases the aggression between the mother and the child, so she kills him in that aggression.

If the mother sees that the babies do not have enough food, she kills them and wants to provide the other babies with enough food. That is why you, as the owners, must be careful and show the mother that you have enough food for her and the baby. This is what most birds do in the wild.

A male can kill his children out of jealousy. When he sees that the mother spends enough and too much time with the children he becomes too jealous because he does not have enough attention focused on himself.

Can Baby Budgies Die From Cold?

Little budgies are very sensitive to changes in temperature. Since they do not have naturally developed feathers, they are exposed to cold and are very weak. That is why their mother must warm them with her feathers, but if they are abandoned, that is of course not possible. The temperature of the surrounding space for baby budgies needs to be around 98 Fahrenheit.

There are ways to prevent your budgie from catching a cold. Buy a brooder lamp that is specially made for proper chicken breeding. Place a heater under the box where the nest is located. It would be good to cover the cage with a blanket as well, but also if you can raise the temperature of the whole room and prevent any possibility of your budgie dying.

What is the Best Room Temperature for breeding Budgies at home?

If you see that the mother is constantly attacking the children, take the babies out of the cage immediately, because if she continues to attack, she will surely kill them, and you can prevent that in time. At that temperature, you are sure to allow your budgies to be happy and their body parts to develop properly. Too high a temperature in non-hatched chickens can cause denaturation of proteins and thus create certain deformities. And too low a temperature can stop some important processes in the bird’s body.
