Things you need for a Budgie

You will need make sure you have some things to in order to help keep it healthy and happy. Here are some key things you need before buying Your First Budgie

Choose a cage that is the right size for your Budgie and position it in a location free from hazards.

Budgies need both vertical height and width for hopping and flying. The minimum size for a single budgie would be: 18x18x18 inches or 46x46x46 cm. Please consider carefully the size you get as it will determine how active your budgie can be and this will effect the health and happiness of your bird.

Using millet as a lure is a great way of speeding up hand or finger-training for your budgies

It is the favorite food of my budgies. As birds originated in the wild they picked whatever was around them. It’s a good treat for your birds because it offers a foraging opportunity; they have to harvest their own seed from the millet’s grain heads. This healthy select Budgie spray is a natural and enjoyable way to give your love birds food high in amino acids – the building blocks of a healthy life.

Water dish & Food Bowl

Make sure you have at least as many food bowls in the cage as you do birds. Keeping food and water dishes clean will minimize bacteria that the bird is exposed to and will help keep your bird healthy.

Budgie Seed Mix

Budgies eat a variety of seeds (grass seeds), fruits, berries and vegetation in the wild. A healthy diet is the best route to keeping your budgie happy and alive. Budgie diet should be pretty even proportions of good quality seed and veggies/fruit.

Perches – Best in wood

Your Budgie will need a few perches of different width and textures set up in its cage. Natural wood perches are a great choice.

Birds can use cuttlebones to help keep their beaks trimmed and sharp.

Cuttlebones are wonderful and always a good idea to offer in the cage. Cuttlebone is an important dietary supplement for birds because it is a great source of necessary minerals and calcium, which helps birds with bone formation and blood clotting.

Mineral blocks fulfill a similar function to cuttlefish bone, supplying extra essentials for your budgie’s physical well-being.  It contains different types of grit, sea algae, calcium, soluble minerals, trace elements and iodine.

Budgies, love playing with toy

Budgies are very active birds and they enjoy having lots of toys to play with. The bell will attract your Budgies to play and chew, and with the crisp sound, it can keep a happy mood and add vitality to life, Wood chew toy can help your Budgies with daily chewing and beak trimming. Budgies love to climb, eat snacks off of hanging ropes, and play with simple materials like thread spools, cardboard, and paper.Toys should be made of durable and non-toxic pet safe materials, your pet bird can play them without any misgivings.

The splashing is the budgie giving themself a bath.

You should give your Budgie a chance to take a bath a couple of times a week. Most birds need little if any, encouragement to bathe. Nothing makes a birdbath more alluring than moving water.

  1. Where Do Budgies Come From? Budgies are natives of Australia, and this is the only place where truly wild flocks can be found.
