One of my budgie sometimes (not often though) Start bringing food up into its beak shaking its head and throwing seeds everywhere from its mouth like its throwing up. It did seem like it was try to feed my other budgies but they were not taking the food. He was also standing very slim and all feathers against its body with its eyes closed. After a while he will go back to normal but I was wondering if this was anything to be concerned about?
It’s not uncommon for budgies to drop some seeds after eating, but if your bird is dropping a significant amount of seeds, it could be a sign of a health issue. Here are a few possible causes:
- Malnutrition: If your budgie is not getting enough nutrients in its diet, it may drop seeds after eating. Ensure that you’re offering a balanced diet of seeds, vegetables, and fruits, and consider offering a vitamin and mineral supplement.
- Beak or mouth problems: If your budgie is experiencing problems with its beak or mouth, it may have difficulty holding onto its food and may drop seeds after eating. Consult a veterinarian who has experience with birds to determine if this is the cause.
- Digestive problems: Digestive issues such as diarrhea or gastrointestinal infections can cause a budgie to drop seeds after eating. If you suspect that your bird may be experiencing digestive problems, take it to a veterinarian for a diagnosis.
- Illness: If your budgie is ill, it may drop seeds after eating as a result of decreased appetite, digestive problems, or other health issues. Consult a veterinarian if you suspect your bird may be sick.
If you’re concerned about your budgie dropping seeds after eating, it’s a good idea to consult a veterinarian to determine the cause and receive proper treatment.
