I have had budgies a long time but I have never had one with this habit. My bird will eat food and soon after make a high pitched squeak sound at regular intervals and then eat more food. This has been going on at least a month. They are about 2,5 years old and otherwise behave normally.

That seems to be normal, they may be excited or just letting everyone know he was hungry. Keep enough food in the dish everyday. If you are afraid they are sick then consult avian vet. All the best
