Is pine wood ok for birds?

I own two budgies and I recently bought a Christmas tree. I wanted to make a perch out of some of the pine branches. Is pine wood safe for birds?

Fresh pine has a sticky resin. I dont’ recommend making perch out of it. Use Apple tree it is safe 🥰
