My blue budgie Lenny is laying too many eggs, and has gone through 3 breeding stages but all consecutive.
How can I stop her, she is losing calcium. I am giving cuttle bone and mineral block but still too many eggs, so far 27.
Please tell me a way to stop her
Thank you

If your female budgie is laying too many eggs, it can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance or an unnatural breeding environment. Here are a few steps you can take to help stop her from laying excessive eggs:
- Remove nests and breeding materials: Providing your budgie with a nest or breeding materials, such as shredded paper or twigs, can trigger her to lay eggs. Remove these items from her cage to reduce her desire to breed.
- Provide a balanced diet: A diet that is high in calcium and other essential nutrients can contribute to hormonal imbalances and excessive egg-laying. Offer your budgie a balanced diet of seeds, vegetables, and fruits, and consider providing a calcium supplement.
- Increase activity and socialization: Budgies are social birds and require daily interaction and stimulation. Increase the amount of time you spend with your bird, and provide it with plenty of toys and other forms of enrichment to keep it active and entertained.
- Reduce stress: Stress can trigger hormonal imbalances and excessive egg-laying in budgies. Minimize changes to your bird’s environment, such as rearranging its cage or introducing new birds, and provide it with a peaceful and calm environment.
- Consult a veterinarian: If your budgie continues to lay excessive eggs, it may be a sign of a medical issue, such as a hormonal imbalance or an infection. Consult a veterinarian who has experience with birds to rule out any underlying health issues and determine the best course of treatment.
Remember, excessive egg-laying can be harmful to your budgie’s health and should be addressed promptly.
