Alive or dead?

I buried my budgie on 7th November 2017. It was a female blue budgie which had gone through a lot of problems and injuries. She had been sleeping all day and not eating for about a week. One day when I was returning from school, I got a call saying that she was dead. I rushed home and to my horror, I thought the same. But I was able to see her slowly blink her eyes. Very slowly. My maid urged me to bury her because it was about to rain any moment. I paid my respects to her and buried her. Please tell me of I did the right thing. I couldn’t go to the veterinarian as in my city – Bangalore, there aren’t any veterinarians for budgies.
