After 2 years of my birds being on a seed and vegetable diet, one of my budgies (Jasper) started making clicking noises when she breathed and whimpered excessively at night. After doing some research, I found that a possible cause of this behavior was linked to an all-seed diet causing a lack of iodine (though I’m not ruling out the possibility of her being sick.) I then realized that I need to start feeding them pellets so they don’t become nutrient deficient. What brand, in your experience, provides the best nutrition, and what brands should I avoid?
By the symptoms you described your budgie is sick, you should get him to the vet so he can give him the proper medication! By giving seeds and a vegetable diet, you should also give him liquid vitamins during molt. If your budgie wants to eat pellets, get them from the pet store or order online. Good luck
